About Us

Our history

 

The Supportive Brotherhood of Fatherly Mentors traces its origins to a shared vision for fostering stronger families and healthier communities. On November 3, 2022, a dedicated group of individuals formalized this vision by creating SBFM and adopting foundational bylaws that continue to guide the organization today.



Founding Purpose

From the outset, SBFM was established as a nonprofit corporation committed to educational, motivational, societal, and charitable objectives, emphasizing the belief that engaged, well-supported fathers form the cornerstone of stable families. The organization’s core purposes, as outlined in its bylaws, include:

  • Promoting, sponsoring, and conducting activities aimed at developing and maintaining strong families.
  • Conducting and sponsoring programs for fathers to improve relationships with children and spouses.
  • Encouraging individuals to build stronger communities by supporting fathers and families.
  • Fostering positive mental health for fathers to bolster childhood development and encourage safe households.
  • Encouraging ongoing growth in parenting skills through teamwork, networking, and mentorship.

SBFM’s governance model centers on inclusivity and accountability. The bylaws require a mix of board members—some with direct parenting experience, and at least one individual without children—to ensure varied perspectives on shaping initiatives. Directors serve three-year terms and commit to active participation in board meetings and decisions. individuals.

 From its inception, SBFM has operated under guidelines consistent with Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. This ensures donations and organizational endeavors align with charitable, educational, and societal benefits.
